By the 3rd century BC they had extended their territory from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. They dominated this area until the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, when they were overpowered by the Goths and Huns. This title looks at the weapons, battles and culture of these people. It describes the military history of the Sarmatians, combining the literary evidence with archaeological material: some of which is published here for the first time.
