Opis produktu:

Hard cover, large format (9"x12"), 392 pages, 190 photo pages, numerous diagrams and charts. This unit history features lots of first-hand accounts of this unit - the senior Tiger battalion of the German Army. Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 was formed in late 1942 and fought until the bitter end on both the Eastern and WesternFronts. It was issued with both the Tiger I and the massive Königstiger (with both the Henschel- and Porsche-turrets). Besides an exciting text, this volume also features 190 photo pages with nearly 300 photos, a good percentage of which have never been published previously.

This book provides an operational history of the German Army Heavy Tank Battalion 503 in WWII. An excellent book with a large number of black and white photographs of the unit in action, color reference plates of the vehicles, and orders of battle the main text is written by members of the unit who describe their experiences. An excellent reference book. This battalion begin its combat history in Russia in 1942, was at the 1943 Battle of Kursk, fought with KG Bake in 1943 as part of a mobile 'Fire Brigade'; and was the only Army Heavy Tank battalion at Normandy. It was also the first Heavy Tank Battalion to operationally use the Tiger II with its 1st Company equipped with Tiger II(P) in Normandy. It was present in Budepest when the Germans established control of the Hungarian Government and fought on through the end of the war against the Russians. Recommended.
