Opis produktu:

After discovering the artillery pieces and the equipment used by the Foot Artillery at the end of the Ancien Regime, the Revolution and the First Empire, discover the men of the “Arme Savante” (the knowledgeable arm) who moved their guns around and served them on horseback. The mobile artillery, then the light artillery and finally the Horse Artillery was a new weapon which announced the changes in the centuries to come… Just like the Artillery Train which, with the First Empire, finally grew up, to the age of regulations.

This was the organization of Mr. de Gribeauval, the Inspector of Artillery, set up slowly over nearly thirty years and which remained more or less as it was until 1825.

This title, like Volume one, is a great value for money. It is full of uniform images, flags, guns, standards and equipment. all in glorious colour. The text and images cover the development of French Mobile Artillery to Horse artillery, from 1792 to 1815. Of the many images and information offered, I found the Mobile Artillery Wurst (pages 40-41) very interesting. It displays the Wurst caisson with six gunners sitting on it and three mounted on the horses pulling it. Also interesting, is the images and information on 24pdr Howitzers (page 51), which the text states were unsuitable for campaigning in hilly country. Overall, a great book, containing so much and for so little, price wise. This is an excellent title for both Napoleonic enthusiast and wargamers.
