Opis produktu:

In-depth look at the use of armoured weapons in the Warsaw uprising

Covers a neglected area in the literature on the Battle for Praga

Includes very rare photos and original colour illustrations by internationally acknowledged illustrators Maarten Swarts, Samuel Swärd and Oliver Missing

Many books have been written about the Uprising in Warsaw, but none have been written in such depth to describe the use of the armoured weapons during this conflict. Tanks in city environments had, previously during World War II, only been used very rarely, since it was exceptionally difficult to use them properly in built up areas due to their size and speed capacity. The Uprising in Warsaw was unique, as both sides used tanks in the urban terrain of the battle.

This volume focuses specifically on the ill-covered, yet bitter and decisive “battle for Praga” (the eastern most suburb of Warsaw, situated on the bank of Vistula river) which began on the eve of the Uprising and continued through to the end of September. The fighting was among the toughest and most brutal on the Eastern Front during the war.

It is recounted here in full detail giving a concise picture of the vehicles and weapons systems that were employed. Every vehicle is presented with a picture, accompanied by technical specifications making this a must for anyone who wants to know more about the Uprising in Warsaw and the development of tank warfare.
